Yangtey is just 9 kms from Pelling and it offers excellent views of Mt. Kanchenjungha without the crowd and din of Pelling. Nearby attractions of Yangtey: In the nearest town of Pelling, you will be truly amazed by viewing the earliest monastery of the region, the Pemayangtse Monastery, belonging to the Nyingmapa sect. The monastery offers visual pleasure by its impeccable sculptures and wall paintings. If you are visiting the monastery in January-February, you can witness a religious dance called ‘Cham’. Locate the Rabdantse Ruins, which is 10 minutes walk away from the Monastery. You will also find a forest area nearby, admired with some exotic orchids and few lakes.

You can organize tours to visit some of the prominent locations around Yangtey. The Changey Waterfall, located at a distance of 19 km. from Yangtey is worth visiting. You can also visit another spectacular waterfall, the Kangchendzonga waterfalls some 30 kms away. Make a trip to the site of Khecheopari Lake, highly acknowledged as one of the holy lakes in Sikkim. Surprisingly, there is not a single leaf on the lake surface, which is said to be cleared by birds. The other two major tourist attractions are the Rimbi Water Falls and Karchen Power House.

You will truly enjoy your visit to the Sewaro Rock Garden, admired with flowers, fountains, spectacular gardens, ponds, swimming pool, cafeteria and well-maintained rocks. A fair called Maghe mela is also celebrated at the site. You can also visit the Sang Da Choeling Monastery near Pelling by taking a short 45 mis trk from Pelling.

How to reach Yangtey: Yangtey is 106 kms from Siliguri and just 2 kms from Geyzing. You can hire cars from New Jalpaiguri or Siliguri to reach Yangtey. If you are travelling from Gangtok, then you can take buses of shared cars upto Geyzing and then hire a car for anther two kms to reach Yangtey.

Best time to visit Yangtey: Throughout the year but the best season to view the peaks is the winter.
