Amidst the crowded cemented life, there lies the isolated location of Chapramari, a least popular spot among the visitors. Chapramari is derived from two words, ‘Chapra’ meaning small fishes and ‘Mari’ meaning abundance. The homestays residing within the Chapramari forest area, offers comfortable stay to the visitors.

The name of the place was basically derived from ‘Chapra’ meaning small fishes and ‘Mari’ meaning in abundance. Surrounded with dense green, Chapramari receives its water stream from the river of Murti.
Chapramari is in very close proximity to Chalsa and can be traveled through Malbazar via Chalsa. Traveling around a distance of 7 km from Chalsa to Khunia More. Taking a sharp left turn leads its way to the Chapramari Forest Gate and the other turn takes to the Gorumara National Park, attracting a majority of tourists and locals. Whereas the Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary being near to this attraction remains unnoticed. This is the reason of it being so untouched and serene. The naturistic view of the place through the dense forests of the Chapramari will leave travelers experience purity of the nature.
Various species of the wild nature can be viewed while travelling through the roads of Chapramari. The fresh colors of the jungle along with an earthy, fresh aroma of the nature (especially during the monsoon) will leave one spellbound. The stillness due to almost zero traffic and no buzzing horns around will make you feel the isolation.
The known and unknown chirping sounds of a variety of birds throughout the roads, a glance of the peacocks playing hide and seek. Hornbill flying high above with its long beak and a variety of colorful birds and the trumpeting sounds of elephants heard from in between the jungle makes it a thrilling experience.
Forest Safari are also provided by the Forest Department two times a day. One at early 7:00 in the morning and other at 4:00pm. Tickets are available at the Chalsa and travelers need to get their tickets from that point itself. A guide is being provided along with the tourists through their Safari. They take the visitors to a Watch Tower from where a wider view of the jungle is possible. The ossibility of viewing Elephants and Rhinos become more as there lies a salt lake just below the Watch Tower surrounding it. The animals visit this place to eat salt and thus the chances of viewing the wild animals becomes more.
There are also a very few Homestays in between the forest area which offers a comforting stay to their guests. The owner of the homestay is calm enough and well behaved and will provide all the possible needs of their guests. Moreover the ambiance of the homestay will make one feel as their home in between the forest and wild life.
Although least populated and not a very popular destination site, travelers who love to experience the serene and fresh nature must definitely pay a visit at this location.
HOW TO REACH CHAPRAMARI
Visitors can reach to this place traveling through Siliguri via Gagoldoba. From Gajoldoba they need to take the route to Chalsa travelling through Malbazar and then reach Chapramari. It takes approximately 2hrs to reach to Chapramari. On other way traveler can take route via Sevoke from Siliguri to Malbazar. The nearest railway station is Chalsha.
BEST TIME TO VISIT CHAPRAMARI
Chapramari can be visited throughout the year but if the travelers want to view the fresh green nature it will be appropriate to visit during the monsoon of the year. But while travelling through the roads in between the forests, travelers needs to be very careful of the blood-sucking leeches!
