The small village of Chimney at Kurseong took its name from the famous chimney that was built on the top of the hill in 1839 by the Britishers. The small, peaceful Chimney village with just few locals residing is an amazing day to spend. The tranquility covering the entire Chimney is a splendid location to visit.

Kurseong, being at a hill top and used as a mere route to the ‘Queen of the hills’ Darjeeling, treasures something more into it. The village gets its name from a chimney being built by the Britishers in the year 1839. The tall chimney built on the high hills of Kurseong Chimney, is also a view point allowing tourists to get the panoramic view of the wide Mahananda, Balason and the famous Teesta River on one of its side. Whereas, the other side gives a view of the mighty hills of Kanchenjunga and Sandakphu Hills.

HOW TO REACH

Chimney can be reached by two ways by the travelers. One can travel through Kurseong via the Dow Hill to reach to the hills of Chimney. And another can be traveled via the Darjeeling road and again back up the hill to reach the beautiful village of Chimney. It generally takes about 30 mins to reach through the marvelous Bagora road from Kurseong. A perfect destination for a short trip to relieve stress from busy schedule.
