Gopegarh was once a fort of the Gope king, which is now transformed into an eco-park. This is a nice place to spend your weekend, where you can remain surrounded by natural beauty. This eco-park is situated on the banks of River Kasai or Kangsabati, and is basically an isolated place. The peaceful mood of Gopegarh is at times interrupted due to the sound of the railways crossing the bridge on the River Kasai.
Places to see at Gopegarh: The forest on top of the fort has been slashed and replaced by flowers like Duranda, Vacaranda, as well as Tekosa, Shal and Bakul trees and strewn with soft lush green grass. How to reach Gopegarh: By roadways or railways, you have to first reach Midnapore. Leaving the city you have to continue towards the wild, which takes different look in accordance to the varying season. 3 km from there, you will reach Gopegarh Eco-park.
